- Roto-Rooter knew that the time had come to replace their green-screen technician dispatch system.
Results:
- The evaluation undertaken by Roto-Rooter convinced the development team that they could develop contemporary applications using existing RPG programming skills.
- Soon after the first development efforts with AVR, Roto-Rooter realized that programmer productivity improved dramatically compared to traditional RPG development.
- The new AVR application includes capabilities not possible in the green-screen application, such as graphical representations of technician schedules, easy to access menus, and tabs that allow easy movement from screen to screen. These capabilities make the new application much easier for users to learn and use than the green-screen version. The application now features more information on the screen at one time, in a format that is easier to read, enabling users to see and correct scheduling conflicts more quickly and provide a higher level of customer service.
